Frequently Asked Questions
Can I apply a sale code to a booking I already made?
No. Reduced pricing applies only to new bookings, and a booking with a deposit already received isn't eligible. Sale codes must be quoted at the time of booking.
How much is the deposit, and when is the balance due?
Deposits run $250 for 18-to-Thirtysomethings and Roamies trips and $350 for most other small group styles. The balance is due 60 days before departure, and bookings made inside 60 days require full payment.
How do Lifetime Deposits work?
A cancelled booking's deposit becomes credit with no expiry that can be transferred to someone else. It has no cash value, applies to a new tour of equal or greater value, and can't be used for the same or similar travel dates.
Can I combine sale offers?
Sale terms state they can't be combined with other offers, and some exclude products such as National Geographic Journeys, private groups, and expedition voyages. Read each sale's terms before booking.
What happens if I cancel?
Cancel 60 or more days out and the deposit becomes a Lifetime Deposit while the rest is refunded. Between 30 and 59 days, 50% of the remainder comes back, and inside 30 days nothing does. Expedition, TailorMade, and National Geographic Signature trips follow different schedules.
Is travel insurance required?
Yes. You must carry coverage with at least US$200,000 in medical, evacuation, and repatriation protection. Cancellation coverage is recommended, and no insurance is included in tour prices.
